5-days Behavior Adjustment Certification Course

Certified Behavior Adjustment Training Instructor’s (CBATIs) are internationally recognized, professional dog trainers who help dogs learn to feel safe in the presence of former triggers.

This intensive, 5-day course covers everything you need to know to earn certification as a Behavior Adjustment Training Instructor:

* Understanding and Interpreting Canine Behavior
* Antecedents, Behavior and Consequences
* How Dogs Learn
* Required BAT Leash Skills
* BAT Behavior Zones (Observation Skills and Handling)
* Details of a Successful BAT Set Up
* When and How to use “Mark and Move”
* Team Troubleshooting: Challenges and Solutions
* Working with Clients
* The Science of BAT
* Teaching BAT Classes

Full Participants who pass the written exam and practical skills assessment (working hands-on with real clients/dogs) provided during this course will become Certified BAT Training Instructors.

The registration fee for full Participants costs € 1650,00.

Auditors who pass the written exam during this course may submit required practical skills assessment video at a later date, with an assessment evaluation fee. Upon successful review, CBATI certification will be granted.

The registration fee for Auditors costs € 1150,00. The additional assessment fee is of € 595,00

CBATI Certification Requirements:
1. Sign a Statement Committing to the Principles of “Progressive Reinforcement Training” (Emily Larlham) See the link here.

2. Submission of the Behavior Case Log Form, listing a minimum of 100 hours as the Lead Instructor for someone else’s dogs, specifically focusing on rehabilitating fear, frustration and/or bullying, involving aggression, using force-free training techniques. These behavior cases do not have to be with BAT, just progressive, force-free methods. This list can go back to 24 months. Format: (date, time, customer, dog name, behavioral topic)

3. Submission of the Regular Training Log Form, listing up to 100 hours as the Lead Instructor for someone else’s dogs, doing regular dog training and behavior modification (for issues such as separation anxiety) or conducting training classes, using force-free training techniques. This list can go back to 24 months.

5. Pass CBATI Practical Skills Assessment

Since this course is a certification course, we do not recommend you attend without previous knowledge (practical and theoretical) of BAT. For this we refer to the book BAT 2.0, or to the video set by Grisha Stewart and to her webinar. You can also be accompanied by a CBATI colleague.

Required: Read BAT 2.0 for Dog Aggression, Frustration & Fear by Grisha Stewart.
Suggested: watch Grisha Stewarts BAT 2.0 Video Series, specifically the DVD BAT 2.0 Set-Ups; attend an Intro to BAT Seminar, Shadow a CBATI, etc.

Organizational details:
* During the 5 days hot and cold drinks as well as snacks are available free of charge.

* At lunchtime, you can enjoy a light vegan meal cost: € 10,00 / day x 5 = € 50,00 on site or you can bring your own lunch as there are fridge, freezer, owen and microwave. It is also possible to order take away.

* On Saturday we will have Pizza night and socialize.

* Please do understand that no dogs should be brought to the premises. Also we would want to avoid dogs waiting in parked cars.

Payment and cancellations:
The number of spots in this course is limited. In order to secure your participation in this education, please fully pay your registration fee.

The payment is to be done to Ellen Gerdes-Naumann (Official BAT School). We prefer a payment per Paypal in order to keep the money transfers as simple and as low cost as possible.

Until 3 months prior to the beginning of the course; we will withhold or charge you with 50% of the complete fee.
